Where to buy MCD train tickets

September 20, 2019

You can use ticket vending machines in the metro and on MCC to pay fare for MCD trips. By the time MCD opens, the software is to be updated in about two thousand terminals.

Passengers will be able to pay MCD fare using Troika travelcard, bank cards and smartphones with contactless payment. A single means to buy tickets will allow citizens to change from the MCD to other types of urban transport without purchasing additional cards.

"Passengers will be able to use ticket vending machines in the metro and at the MCC to add a ticket to Troika travelcard. Before the trains start running on the Moscow Central Diameters, machines will have their software updated. Also, you will be able to top up Wallet tariff or add MCD trip tickets in the machines of the Central Suburban Passenger Company at the stations of the Moscow railway," Deputy Moscow Mayor, Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development Maxim Liksutov said.

MCD fares

Moscow Central Diameters will have three tariff zones.  In the Central zone (for trips in Moscow within the boundaries of Mark — Setun and Volokolamskaya — Ostafyevo stations), passengers will be able to use all metro tickets added to Troika travelcard: Wallet tariff, tickets for 60 trips, 1 and 3 days, 30, 90 and 365 days (you will be able to add tickets for one and three days after the MCDs open). Transfer between the metro, the MCC and the MCD will be free. So, a passenger travelling along the MCD within Moscow would pay RUB 38.00 (including MCD, metro and MCC trips) at the Wallet Troika tariff. Free transfer will be available within 90 minutes from the moment of the first ticket validation at the turnstile or on the validator, the same as with the MCC.

If you travel outside  Mark — Setun and Volokolamskaya — Ostafyevo station and in the Moscow region within the MCD (Prigorod tariff zone), you transfer for free to MCC, metro and MCD. In 2019, one trip at the Wallet Troika tariff will cost RUB 45.00. The price includes MCD, metro and MCC trips.

If a passenger travels from a station located outside MCD boundaries, the cost of the trip will have two components: a valid commuter train ticket (RUB 23.00 for one zone to the MCD boundary) plus RUB 45.00. This tariff zone is called Dalnyaya. As soon as you enter the MCD borders, you can transfer for free to the MCC, metro and MCD.

New above-ground metro

Moscow Central Diameters will link different lines of the Moscow railway. MCD platforms will provide convenient transfers to the metro station and the MCC. With the new above-ground metro, passengers will cross Moscow in 40 minutes.

The first two diameters, MCD-1 Odintsovo—Lobnya and MCD-2 Nakhabino—Podolsk, are expected to launch by the end of the year. Soon, other diameters are expected to open, with routes to link Zelenograd and Ramenskoye, Aprelevka and Zheleznodorozhny, Domodedovo
and Pushkino.

MCD-1 and MCD-2 will have 66 stations, with 27 of them providing transfer to the metro, MCC and radial railway lines.  Like the metro, the diameters will operate from 05:30 am till 01:00 am.

Ivolga trains are to run along MCD-1 and MCD-2. They will have a comfortable microclimate and an air-disinfection system. The carriages are also equipped with bike racks, Wi-Fi hotspots and USB sockets to charge mobile devices.
