Voronovskoye Hospital Project Nominated for MIPIM Awards on Architecture

March 16

The infectious diseases hospital project in Voronovskoye was nominated for the prestigious international MIPIM Awards. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning Policy and Construction said that the clinic built in record time, was allowed to participate in the main competition stage in the ‘Best Healthcare Development’ category.

"It is symbolic that it was at this time a year ago that we started the infectious diseases hospital construction. It was built in a record time for such kind of object — for 37 days. The need in and importance of the hospital in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic is difficult to undervalue," he said.

According to Andrey Bochkarev, the hospital was built by the best specialists in the Moscow construction industry — more than 27 contractors, over 11 thousand builders and 1,500 pieces of equipment.

"MIPIM Awards competition results will be announced this fall as part of the MIPIM International Real Estate Investment Exhibition in France. The MIPIM Awards prize is one of the most reputed and significant in the architecture and construction area," the Deputy Mayor added.

Moscow projects have been participating in this competition since 2010. In the last two years in succession, they have won prizes: in 2019, Zaryadye Park with a concert hall took a special prize from the award jury, in 2020, the Irina Viner-Usmanova’s Gymnastics Palace won in the ‘Best Sports and Cultural Facility’ category.

The infectious diseases hospital in Voronovskoye settlement received first COVID-19 patients in April last year. The unique complex was designed in compliance with all necessary precautions. More than 26 thousand pieces of medical equipment and furniture were purchased for the center, and each bed here can be converted into an intensive care bed, if necessary. Since the clinic is far from the city center, a hostel was built for the staff on its territory. A security perimeter was set up around the hospital.

Unlike similar institutions opened in other countries during the fight against the coronavirus, this in-patient clinic will operate on a permanent basis. It became a part of Demikhov city clinical  hospital No. 68. After the pandemic, any types of infections are planned for treating here. The service life of buildings is designed for several decades.
