VDNKh resumes Free Admission Hours

August 16

From 18 August, the main national exhibition is resuming its Free Admission Hours at the Slovo (Word) Slavic Writing Centre and the VDNKh Museum, said Deputy Moscow Mayor Natalia Sergunina. Those visiting the Slovo Centre can also join a free guided tour.

“After a forced lockdown, VDNKh is resuming one of its most popular schemes, originally launched last year, namely, free visiting hours. Starting next week, it will be possible to visit the Slovo Centre and the VDNKh Museum free of charge,” Ms Sergunina noted.

Admission will be free between 11 am and 3 pm from Tuesday to Friday. Tickets are available at museums’ ticket offices.

The Slovo Slavic Writing Centre is located at the restored Pavilion 58 (Agriculture). Those buying or otherwise obtaining tickets to the Slovo Centre on weekdays can join free guided tours. They will gain an insight into the main stages of the development of writing in Rus, the first alphabets and the oldest literary works that have survived to this day. Free 45-minute guided tours start at the ticket offices at 11.30 am, 1.30 pm, 3.30 pm, 5,30 pm and 7.30 pm. Tour groups will be formed as soon as enough people (not more than five) are available. No more than 50 people should be in the pavilion at any one time, so as to ensure the required distance between visitors.

In the VDNKh Museum, located in the wing of the Main Entrance Arch, visitors can learn about the creation of the main national exhibition and its work, as well as the evolution of its ensemble and how the exhibitions in its pavilions have evolved over the years. Only 20 visitors are allowed at a time.

VDNKh, a unique public space with an 80-year history, consists of 49 cultural landmarks, including historic pavilions and fountains. Its total area is over 325 hectares. In 2019, 33 million people visited the exhibition.

This summer, the exhibition’s management has prepared three special routes making it possible to walk around the facility, and issued a special guidebook on the VDNKh fountains. Besides this, the dancing season has started here, and a boating station is also available.
