Tourism Oscar: Moscow shortlisted for World Travel Awards

Moscow was nominated for the World Travel Awards, as Sergei Sobyanin announced on his Twitter account.


Moscow is nominated in three categories: World's Leading Festival & Event Destination, World's Leading Sports Tourism Destination and World's Leading City Destination.

The voting is open until 20 October. To vote, you need to register on the World Travel Awards website. The winners will be announced in the final to take place in Muscat (Oman) on 28 November.

Considered the most prestigious award in tourism, the World Travel Awards was established in 1993.  It is called a tourism Oscar. The winners set an example for colleagues to follow and become a crown jewel of the region.

Today, Moscow is among the TOP 20 most visited cities in Europe and ranks 31st in the list of the most visited capitals in the world. In 2018, 23.5 million tourists visited Moscow, of which 5.5 million were foreigners.
