Three Moscow projects entered the final of the MIPIM Awards real estate competition. These are the project of the Vorontsovskoye clinical center for infectious diseases, the project of reconstruction of the Northern River Station and the project of construction of a residential complex on the territory of the Badaev brewery.

The MIPIM Awards are one of the most prestigious and significant awards in the field of real estate and urban development. In total, the contest received more than 170 applications from 36 countries.

The project of the infectious diseases hospital in Voronovsky was included in the Best Healthcare Development category, Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Urban Planning and Construction, said.

"The construction project of the Moscow Vorontsovskoye Clinical Center for Infectious Diseases has reached the final of the MIPIM Awards competition. This is a very significant event for us. We understand that the healthcare buildings do not have outstanding architectural value - the main principles of the project were functionality, reliability, and long service life. It is important for us that the contest jury highly appreciated the social significance of the object, as well as the feat that the builders accomplished: from scratch, in just a month, they created a full- fledged autonomous hospital," the Deputy Mayor said.

The Moscow Voronovskoye Clinical Center for Infectious Diseases was built in record time by more than 27 contractors, more than 11 thousand builders and with the help of 1,500 pieces of equipment. Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt Joint Stock Company (Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding acted as the general contractor and general designer of the facility), recalled that the hospital can accommodate up to 800 patients, and each bed can be transformed into an intensive care unit within a day.

"The hospital, built in record time, was necessary for the capital to quickly fight against the pandemic, and therefore this hospital can be called a symbol of solidarity of Moscow builders and a joint feat with doctors and other specialists in the fight against COVID-19 in the most crisis period. It is very prestigious to be among the finalists of the MIPIM Awards 2021, especially with such a socially important project as an infectious diseases hospital, equipped with modern medical equipment and able to serve the city for several decades," Yuri Kravtsov stressed.

The hospital has become a symbol of the fight against the pandemic in the capital. The first patients with COVID-19 were admitted here in April 2020. During this time, doctors in Voronovskoye Clinical Center healed more than 16 thousand people.

The hospital is equipped with individual boxes for complete isolation of patients - with individual extraction, disinfection of air and wastewater. The most modern equipment with a wide range of medical care is installed in the admissions, treatment, diagnostic, surgical and intensive care departments of the hospital. The hospital has its own diagnostic center and laboratory, where you can conduct more than 10 thousand tests per day. During the work, more than four million tests were processed here, including more than 200 thousand PCR tests.

Unlike similar institutions opened in other countries during the fight against the coronavirus, this in-patient clinic will operate on a permanent basis. After the pandemic, any types of infections are planned for treating here. The service life of the buildings is designed for several decades.

The other MIPIM Awards finalist is the Northern River Station. In the Best Refurbished Building category, it will compete with projects from Brussels, Beloit and Paris. Another Moscow nominee of this year is a residential complex on the site of the Badaev brewery on the Taras Shevchenko Embankment. The fourth Russian finalist is the Kronstadt cultural cluster called Island of Forts.

Moscow projects have been participating in this competition since 2010. The projects have already reached the final of the competition three times and won prizes for two years in a row. So, in 2019, the Zaryadye Park with a concert hall was recognized the winner and awarded a special prize of the MIPIM Awards jury, in 2020, the Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace in Luzhniki had no equal in the nomination Best Object of Culture and Sports. This year's final will be held in Cannes in September.
