The first night marriage registrations took place at Mayakovskaya metro station

August 26

The first solemn wedding ceremonies took place at the Mayakovskaya metro station. It was in the night of a beautiful date — 21.08.2021 — for two newlywed couples.

“The project for marriage registration in Moscow unusual places is underway. The first solemn wedding ceremonies took place at the Mayakovskaya metro station last night. When we opened the opportunity to use this station for registering marriage on three beautiful dates, couples were happy to support the initiative: within two weeks all ceremony times were booked. Let me remind you that today more than 30 unusual sites are available for newlyweds in the capital,” Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Social Development said.

Solemn wedding ceremonies at Mayakovskaya metro station are held at night so as not to obstruct the traffic.

“The metro became an important cultural site of Moscow long ago, and we decided that it is the great place for weddings. So we supported the proposal of Sergei Sobyanin to register marriages at unusual sites of Moscow. Today the wedding ceremony took place at the Mayakovskaya metro station for the first time in history. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations and I am sure it will become a wedding palace for many couples in the future,” Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Moscow Mayor in the Moscow Government, Head of the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, said.

The first couple to get married were Maxim and Ekaterina Kozlov, who work in the communications service of the Moscow metro. They got acquainted at school about 20 years ago. “The future husband was driving the car and heard on the radio about marriage ceremonies in Moscow metro. We have been planning the wedding for a long time, and this news stimulated us to do it right now,” Ekaterina said.

Vitaly and Anna Chernyakov acquainted through social network at the end of 2019. The newlyweds wanted to get married in an unusual place. “We searched the Internet to see if it was possible to get married in the metro, and it turned out that just a couple of days ago a new site for marriage registration was opened at the Mayakovskaya metro station. This station wasn't our rendezvous place, but in the first days of meetings it turned out that this is our favorite station. I fell in love with it from the start of my riding the metro. Once when I went up the escalator and read Mayakovsky's poems on the mosaic, the station finally won my heart,” said Anna Chernyakova.

More than 30 places for on-site marriage registration are available to newlyweds. Couples choose a ceremony place on the site of the New Addresses of Happiness special project. The site contains photos and a detailed description of each place with designation on the Moscow map, marriage possible dates, instructions for submitting applications, as well as beautiful dates. One can submit an application for on-site marriage registration in person at the registry office where the unusual place belongs or in online format via the portal or the unified public services portal. The state fee is 350 rubles. You can also get married at night at Wedding Palace No. 1.

Wedding ceremonies at night do not differ from the daytime ones. Some couples find it more convenient to get married at night, because after the ceremony they immediately go to the airport for their planned honeymoon.
