Certain restrictions are still in place to counteract the spread of the coronavirus infection in Moscow. Sergei Sobyanin wrote in his blog about their extension after 22 January. Thus, 30 percent of employees of Moscow companies continue to work remotely, while senior citizens and those with chronic diseases are required  to stay in their homes.

“These are the conditions we will have to live in for the next few weeks or so. I sincerely hope that the improvement of the epidemiological situation will soon allow us to ease the remaining restrictions. The key to success is people getting jabs and always wearing masks when they are using public transport and are in public spaces,” the Mayor said.

The existing restrictions regarding the work of restaurants, bars, discotheques, karaoke bars and bowling clubs remain in place: they must be closed from 11 pm to 6 am.

At the same time, as of 22 January, museums, libraries and other cultural facilities will resume working. When it comes to entertainment, cultural and leisure events, as well as exhibitions, sports and other gatherings only 50 percent of the usual capacity will be permitted. The maximum number of visitors in theatres, cinemas and concert halls is being increased from 25 percent to 50 percent.

Coronavirus cases are going down in Moscow.

“Last week we saw between 2,000 and 4,000 new cases on a daily basis, which is much less than what we recorded at the end of December,” Sergei Sobyanin noted.

The large-scale vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is underway with 100 jab points available at city outpatient clinics working from 8 am to 8 pm. To get an appointment, one can use the mos.ru and emias.info portals, as well as the mobile apps Moscow Government Services, My Moscow and EMIAS.INFO, plus information kiosks at outpatient clinics or by phone. A passport and mandatory medical insurance are required to get a jab.
