Within three years, 134 Moscow polyclinics are to be reconstructed to meet the new standards approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

During his report on the progress of national projects in the city, Moscow Mayor said that the renovation of Moscow healthcare facilities will go beyond regular repairs.

‘We have a state-of-the-art polyclinic design developed, with a new look and new logistics. We have developed reconstruction and repair projects of a significant number of clinics that have become outdated,’ said Sergei Sobyanin.

According to Moscow Mayor, the work on upgrading 50 Moscow healthcare institutions is to launch next year.

‘These are promising figures, since even in Moscow, with cutting-edge scientific and technological developments and new medical equipment introduced faster than in some remote places of Russia, as a matter of course, many clinics were actually constructed in the 1970s and 1980s, and people wait for their upgrade. So, I hope it will be a good contribution to the healthcare development in Moscow,’ Dmitry Medvedev said.

According to Moscow Mayor, work is underway to increase the number of the most in-demand specialists and update medical equipment. Some Moscow medical institutions need to be re-equipped, while the other are in need of new equipment.

'Decrease in child and adult mortality rate are the key indicators, and we have very good, positive figures in this field now,’ Sergei Sobyanin added.

As for housing construction, Moscow Mayor says that Moscow is already close to its target of 3.6 million sq m.

Moscow is moving towards achieving the objectives of national projects, as Dmitry Medvedev noted.

‘Moscow enjoys special opportunities and plays a special role in Russian life. Nevertheless, Moscow is also implementing national priorities and national projects, and it is well on its way to national goals we are all focused on now,’ the Russian Prime Minister said.
