The restoration of Forum Electrotheatre at Sandoval-Sukharevskaya street is about to start. Sergei Sobyanin announced about it on his page on VK.

It is one of the Moscow’s three oldest cinemas along with Coliseum and the Khudozhestvenny cinema. According to the Moscow Mayor, restoration work will take another three-four years.

It is planned under the project to clear vent ducts and strengthen pylons that support the first floor slabs.

Monier reinforced concrete vaults will be restored in the basement and the floors will be replaced. The historical roof configuration will be restored and the dormer will be recreated.

The building facade will be re-plastered using marble chips. Special attention will be paid to the decor and bas reliefs restoration, as well as historical lanterns at the entrances. The restorers will revive decoration of the staircase to the second floor (white stone stairs, metal railings), and decoration of the foyer (stucco molding, finishing of columns and pilaster with artificial marble, balustrades, illuminating equipment).

Specialists are planning to restore about one hundred landmark buildings in different districts of Moscow in 2021. Among them are the SPP-2 building at Bolotnaya embankment, three pavilions at VDNKh, the Abrikosovs’ residential house, the Naumov-Volkonsky family estate and others.
