Sergei Sobyanin: Metro, MCC and surface transport to work all through New Year's night

Metro and Moscow Central Circle (MCC) will work all the New Year's night long. Also, 175 routes of above-ground transport will be available. Use route 61 around the clock. Take route 101 and another 13 regular night routes until 03:00 am. Moreover, enjoy free rides 08:00 pm 31 December until 06:00 am 1 January. It was a decision made at a meeting of the Moscow Government Presidium.

Thanks to transport available all night long, Muscovites and guests will be able to welcome the New Year at home or at other parties, and then continue celebrating in the streets and parks.

On Christmas night, 6 to 7 January, public transport hours are to be extended, too. Metro and MCC will be open until 02:00 am. Above-ground transport will run until 03:00 am (13 night routes plus another 66 ones).

Moscow Central Diameter and commuter trains will run until 02:00 am during New Year and Christmas nights.

1 to 8 January, parking will be free. Public transport passengers will enjoy festive spirit in trains, buses, trams and e-buses decorated for New Year holidays. Besides, 400,000 New Year Unified tickets, 10,000 festive Troika travel cards and a thousand key chains have been issued.

Road blocking and restrictions

From 31 December till 05:30 am 6 January, Okhotny Ryad metro station is to change its operation mode, with its northern lobby (exits 8 and 9) open for exit and transfer to Teatralnaya metro station only. Southern lobby (1-6 exits) will be open only for entrance, with entrance 7 closed.

A number of streets in the centre of Moscow will be closed for cars from 02:00 am 28 December till 10:00 pm 6 January. Tverskaya Street will be blocked off from Tverskoy Boulevard to Mokhovaya Street, with Mokhovaya Street  closed from Vozdvizhenka to Tverskaya streets, Okhotny Ryad Street from Mokhovaya Street to Teatralny Proyezd, Teatralny Proyezd from Okhotny Ryad to Petrovka streets, Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street from Romanov Pereulok to Mokhovaya Street, and Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street from Okhotny Ryad Street to Dmitrovsky Pereulok. Besides, car traffic will be shut-off in Glinishchevsky, Gazetny, Nikitsky and Bryusov lanes. Traffic police officers will be authorised to block off other streets, too, if there are too many pedestrians in the roadway.

To avoid crowding, there will be many more entrances and exits to the Journey to Christmas festival in Tverskaya Street arranged this year.

Moskvoretskaya (from Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge to Kitaigorodsky Proyezd), Kremlyovskaya (from Borovitskaya Square to Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge), Raushskaya (from Bolshoi Ustyinsky Bridge to Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge) and Sofiyskaya (from Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge to Bolshoi Kamenny Bridge) embankments, as well as Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge will be blocked off during the festive fireworks, from 11:30 pm on 31 December till 00:30 am on 1 January.

Besides, 06:00 am 31 December till 06:00 am 1 January, parking along Boulevard Ring's section from Prechistenka to Trubnaya Square will not be allowed.
