Spring Bike Festival took place in Moscow on 19 May to bring together a record number of participants - more than 40,000.

The holiday began with the Sadovoye Koltso cycling race - an against-the-clock race for amateur athletes of various training levels. Then, all cyclists made a complete lap along Sadovoye Koltso.

The Festival guests and participants were offered an entertainment show with master classes, prize draws and contests, as well as a food court at Akademika Sakharova Prospekt.

Residents of remote districts of Moscow and the Moscow region could carry their bicycles by train for free. There is no need to buy a ticket for bikes on commuter trains until 26 May.

“I’d like to thank all participants of today’s holiday who have joined us for a ride along Sadovoye Koltso. It's nice to see a rise in the use of bicycles in Moscow. A bicycle is health, physical exercise and a great way to get to your destination quickly and comfortably. I am sure that the Bike Festival will increase a number of bike fans,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Moscow Mayor, Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development.

This year Moscow will host two more big cycling events: Night Bike Festival on 13 July and Autumn Festival on 15 September.
