20 Moscow companies will present their goods in duty-free shops at Sheremetyevo Airport under “Made in Moscow” brand. Products such as craft chocolate, marshmallows, marmalade, snacks, eco-friendly cosmetics will appear there until the end of February. A special brand new design for "Made in Moscow" promotional stands, where the products will be placed, was developed. Promoters will be engaged in the presentation of goods. The program will be in effect for one year.

“This is a new kind of support provided to Moscow exporters. In addition to receiving grants and subsidies, participating in business missions, major foreign exhibitions and conferences, Moscow manufacturers will be able to supply their goods to duty-free shops. We expect that the general “Made in Moscow” brand will attract not only foreign consumers but potential foreign buyers too”, — said Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.

The program participants were selected on a competitive basis by the Moscow Export Center (MEC). Thanks to the program, the goods of Moscow companies will become more recognizable — they will attract additional attention of international businessmen at the airport. The costs associated with accommodation at the airport will be covered by MEC.

“Most of the companies selected (13 out of 20) belong to the food industry, four companies produce souvenirs, and three more make cosmetics. The Moscow government assumes all the costs of placing their goods in duty-free shops throughout the year”,— added Alexey Fursin, head of the Moscow’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

Manufacturers of four categories of goods were invited to submit applications: confectionery, cosmetics, alcoholic beverages and souvenirs. They fit the duty-free format and are popular abroad.

It is expected that the presented products will cause morel interest in respect of foreign contractors. Thus, the export volume of Moscow-manufactured cosmetics amounted to 333 million dollars in the first 11months of 2020. Moscow products most often purchased abroad are: hair products (75 million dollars), shampoos (48 million dollars), perfumes and eau de toilette (34 million dollars), deodorants (23 million dollars).

Export volume of Moscow food and processing industries in January-November of the last year increased by 11 percent compared to the same period of 2019. It reached 600 million dollars.

Moscow Export Center is supervised by the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development. MEC helps Moscow entrepreneurs promote their products to the foreign markets. Among its key tasks are increasing the number of Moscow exporters and helping them develop their foreign economic activity.

Moscow businessmen are also assisted by the Export Support and Development Center — Mosprom.  It recently started to accept applications for participation in a new program, under which suppliers and manufacturers will be presented to foreign buyers (corporate buyers) from several countries at once.
