Parkour, graffiti and historic re-enactment: Moscow residents celebrate Youth Day

On 27 June, Moscow will celebrate Youth Day with festive events in 70 city venues and over 100,000 participants.

Youth Festival

Major Youth Day events are expected in Gorky Park, including the Sports and Street Culture Festival on 27 June with rock climbing, parkour and street dance master classes, open panna and basketball tournaments, and RC-Drift races.

The area along the Moscow River will become a creative zone. Pushkinskaya Embankment will host the Street Energy contest from 12:00 pm to 04:00 pm, where best street artists will paint huge graffiti posters. Krymskaya Embankment will welcome youth on-stage performance groups, street performers and artists from 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm.

In the PicnicHeroes gastronomic zone, Moscow gourmets can enjoy delicacies and see a cooking battle between 10 student teams in three categories: Mangal Style, Shurpa Battle and Dessert Show, from 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm.

Besides, students can join the Lego City Construction, trying on the role of an architect and a builder, as well as to participate in the Moscow Summer Student Games and compete in beach volleyball, badminton and football, tug-of-war and street ball.

The Stand Up Student League finalists will perform on the stage from 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm, and the holiday will end with a rap concert on Pushkinskaya Embankment.

Dialogues about Moscow and youth

Ten Moscow parks will host Moscow Dialogue public speaking master classes with more than 1,000 participants and spectators.

Five city loft spaces and cafes will offer Moscow Talks business breakfasts. Student self-government leaders will discuss social and economic development of Moscow and self-actualization conditions of young people with representatives of executive authorities.

Spiritual Moscow

From 04:00 pm to 07:00 pm, Bauman Garden will host an icon painting workshop, a historic re-enactment site and a handicraft workshop, bell-ringing and church floristry master classes, sampling of national fasting dishes. At the end of the evening, all visitors will enjoy a festive concert.

Young families

Izmailovsky Park will host the first festival of young families named #simplehappiness, with master classes, exhibitions, and presentations of Moscow centres and parental education programs.

Youth Day events will take place in 14 Moscow parks.

Master classes and job fair

The Moscow Youth Media Festival will start at 12:00 pm at the Winzavod Centre for Contemporary Art. Guests will be able to visit a job fair and find a company for an internship, gain new experience during master classes, and discuss the key directions of student and youth media development.

Youth Day was first celebrated in 1958. In 2019, this holiday celebrates its 61th anniversary. Today there are more than 2.5 million young people, 750,000 of them being students, in Moscow.
