North River Terminal took third place at the international design competition in Italy A’Design Awards in the category “Urban Development and Urban Design”.

This year the international competition A’Design Awards was held for the 12th time. Its organizers are the Bureau of European Design Associations, the Polytechnic University of Milan and the Department of Culture of the city of Como. An independent jury evaluates projects in 104 different disciplines.

Large-scale reconstruction of the North River Terminal was completed in September last year. Experts have restored the historical appearance of the building and returned it to its original function — to accommodate and send ships. Now ships go from here to dozens of Russian cities, including St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod.

As part of the reconstruction, the park sculptures “Waterway” and “Sport” were repaired. The fence along the Leningradskoye Highway and two historical fountains have been recreated almost from scratch. In addition, 11 children's playgrounds and sports grounds have been equipped, and a stream has been created on the embankment, imitating the Moscow Canal. Also 17 berths were repaired.
