On 25 May My Documents centres will reopen. Services will once again be available that can only be done in person. The relevant amendments were made to the Moscow Mayor’s executive order on countering the coronavirus.

“Eighty-eight centres in the most populated districts of the city with good transport accessibility will be partly open for business,” wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his blog

Appointments can be made prior to visits by going to mos.ru. Temperatures will be taken at the entrance of every centre and anybody with a fever will be banned from entering. IMPORTANT: masks and gloves are obligatory.

Precautionary measures will be observed at all times. Serving counters are now 1.5 to 2 metres apart and in places where this has not been possible partitions have been put up. Some My Documents workers will have to sit behind glass. They will also all have to don PPE and frequently disinfect their hands with sanitiser.

“The centres are marked out with distance measurements and protective glass, door handles, chairs, tables and other surfaces will be regularly disinfected,” noted the Mayor.

Since 26 March most services have been available online to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. However, each district has had a centre on duty, which was responsible for registering births, deaths and marriages. This service was strictly by appointment only.

Temporary restrictions in Moscow were extended until 31 May. Masks, respirators or other protective breathing equipment as well as gloves must be worn in shops, shopping malls and while travelling by any kind of public transport or by taxi. In public spaces people still have to keep 1.5 metres apart.
