Discover Moscow photo exhibition opened in Muzeon Arts Park to run until 3 November. The exhibition presents 30 best pictures chosen by experts.

'We had more than a thousand applications for the project from Moscow residents. Such enthusiasm of Muscovites is very inspiring. The routes taken by photographers have been specially developed by our Department. They included some 150 Moscow attractions, museums, culture centres, churches and squares. I was personally involved in assessing competitors' works, and it is safe to say that each participant has managed to see and show the audience familiar landmarks in a new light,' said Alexei Yemelyanov, Head of the Moscow Cultural Heritage Department.

20 to 22 September, participants walked 12 routes. Among them are Pushkin's Trail, Lesson in Moscow: Gogolevsky Boulevard, Ivanovskaya Gorka, Holy Road , On Moscow's Curved Streets..., as well as original routes, one of which was proposed by the famous TV and radio presenter Filipp Smirnov.

The experts included historians and personnel of the Moscow Department of Culture and the Cultural Heritage Department.

Photos taken during the walks will be published on the Discover Moscow Portal with photographers' names indicated.

'The pictures show both landmark, and also not so popular streets and Moscow buildings from unusual perspectives. A series of photos is to present Moscow in detail, the beauty of which we often fail to notice in our everyday life,' said Sergei Shakryl, culture and tourism IT project officer of the Moscow Department of Information Technology.

Earlier, the jury chose the special project winners in four categories, namely Ruslan Akhtyamov in the Best Architectural Photo in Social Media tagged #УзнайМоскву, Anna Burdakova in the Best Photo by a Beginner Photographer, Alexandra Oberemok in the Most Original Photo and Sergei Remizov in the Best Workshop Photo.

650 professional and amateur photographers demonstrated their portfolios. Following the expert selection and voting on the Discover Moscow portal, 68 best works have been chosen. Their authors participated in the special program of the project: they took tour routes, attended lectures, took part in public talk with Sergei Shakryl, Head of the Department for Museum and Tourism Development (Mosgortur Agency) Ivan Grinko, and famous Russian photographers Igor Mukhin, Vasily Prudnikov and Georgy Rozov.
