Moscow wins international award for investment projects in education

fDi Intelligence Analytical Agency has honoured initiatives of Moscow Department for Construction Investment Programmes which has won best in the Education Technologies category of fDi Strategy Awards.

“We are glad that international experts highly appreciate what Moscow Department for Construction Investment Programmes is doing to create favourable conditions for fundraising in the sphere of educational products and services development. One should note creating favourable conditions to construct educational facilities, convenient platforms to conduct innovative business, projects aimed at professional development of experts”, Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Economic Policy and Land and Property Relations said.

According to him, Moscow remains the most investment-attractive city of Russia. Today Moscow accounts for about 18.6 percent of the total Russian investment in the fixed capital.

The award is usually given to particular investment agencies, but this year for the first time ever the jury has honoured the initiatives of Moscow Department. fDi Intelligence experts have studied 34 platforms and agencies ranking top in the past year ratings.

Experts focused on agencies’ support services rendered to investors which received supporting measures, as well as approaches to more sustainable development and implementation of ESG factors. What it involves is sustainable development, ecology, and green energy matters.

“Moscow offers favourable conditions for fundraising in education. For example, this year the city has entered into its first concession agreement in the educational sphere. Under the agreement, a unique project — a school for 825 pupils — will be implemented in Skolkovo Innovation Centre. The term of the agreement is 25 years. The investor is to design, build and equip the school as well as carry out maintenance throughout the concession agreement term”, Aleksandr Prokhorov, Head of Moscow Department for Investment and Industrial Policy said.

After the construction is completed, the school will be the property of Moscow. Moscow technical school has also been established to develop human resources. The efficiency of employees who have completed the training is expected to boost by at least 20 percent, which will lead to tangible increase in economic performance of manufacturers.

fDi Intelligence noted that in light of the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic, this year’s awards are a recognition of the strategic excellence shown by the winners in various categories.

fDi Intelligence have analysed and selected world’s leading investment promotion agencies to honour the winners with fDi Strategy Awards since 2016. In 2021, New York City Economic Development Corporation has been awarded the first prize followed by Montréal International Investment Promotion Agency (Canada) and London & Partners Agency (UK) in joint second place.
