The Moscow team won 183 medals in the finals of the 8th WorldSkills Russia National Competition, getting 123 golds, 47 silvers and 13 bronzes. Sergei Sobyanin mentioned on his Vkontakte page.

299 contestants took part in 198 of the 210 categories. The first gold was received back in May this year. Students from school No. 1554 Ivan Skalin and Timofei Orlov, under the guidance of expert and mentor Denis Buts, took part in the nationwide qualifying competition in the Internet of Things category for juniors. The results were included in the final standings of the national competition.

The competition was held in seven sections, such as construction and construction technologies; information and communication technologies; creativity and design; production and engineering technologies; services; transport and logistics; and education.

This year, for the first time in its history, the competition was held in an online and offline format. It became the largest professional skills championship not only in the country but all over the world. More than 2,800 people from 85 Russian regions took part in the national competition. In 2018 and in 2019, there were 700 and 1,500 participants, respectively.

The experts evaluated the finals remotely. If this was not possible, the results were sent to the competition control centres. The final was held in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological safety measures.

This year, Moscow was one of the main centres for holding the finals – the venues were organised based on 40 colleges and two universities. Also, 121 competition control centres were established, where experienced WorldSkills experts monitored the championship remotely.

WorldSkills Russia is the most prestigious and large-scale competition in professional skills, which is held among students aged between 10 and  22. Last year, Muscovites won 92 gold medals in the finals and became the first in the number of golds. And at the WorldSkills Kazan 2019, the national team members from Moscow won six golds, one silvers and one bronzes.
