Moscow kicks off 4th annual ProTeatr festival

February 9, 2018

On 9 February, the Meyerhold Theatre Centre will kick off the 4th annual ProTeatr festival. It will present top global productions by “inclusive companies.” The programme will also offer an experimental laboratory, reports, discussions and workshops, including Dancing and Health, The Creation of an Inclusive Ensemble and The Interaction in an Inclusive Company.

On 10 February, the play From Under the Ashes will be presented. Being brought to Moscow from the Republic of South Africa, it deals with the development of South Africa. The production was inspired by the vision of people in Pompeii frozen in volcanic lava.

On 11 February, two performances will be given – Onegin and The Birth of Memory. Onegin is a premiere of the 2017/2018 season staged by the integrated theatre company Krug. The main character both doesn’t want and is unable to adapt in society. Tatyana turns out to be the mediator between him and society. The Birth of Memory has been brought to Moscow by the Exim Dance Company from the UK.

On the last day of the festival, 13 February, Blaumeier-Atelier Theatre will present its production The Tempest, based on the play by William Shakespeare.  It premiered in June 2016 in Bremen.
