Moscow is top-ranking in the urban economy digitalization for the third year in a row

Moscow for the third time in a row tops the urban economy digitalization ranking "Cities’ IQ" among Russian cities. The ranking results for 2020 were presented in the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation.

The digitalization ranking is estimated for 203 cities. Each of them is assessed according to 47 indicators, which are divided into 10 areas: urban management, intelligent housing and utilities, innovations for the urban environment, intelligent urban transport, intelligent public safety systems, intelligent environmental safety systems, tourism and services, intelligent social services, economic condition and investment climate, infrastructure of communication networks.

Moscow has 103.25 points out of 120 possible. Compared to 2019, Moscow improved its performance by 1.6 points. Moreover, Moscow is the first and only city in Russia to score over 100 points in the ranking. Voronezh, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and Ufa also entered the top five among cities with population above one million.

Moscow demonstrated the greatest progress in the area of ​​“Innovations for the urban environment”, especially in terms of equipping the city with energy-efficient smart lighting systems.

Also, a significant positive dynamics was noted in the area of ​​"City management". In this area both the managerial decision-making performance is important, and the community engagement is taken into consideration too. Today, a full-fledged ecosystem of interaction between residents and the city government was created in Moscow. It allows Muscovites to promptly inform municipal services about utilities failures via Our City portal, vote and discuss the urban development projects on the Active Citizen platform, and also propose new solutions within the framework of projects on the City of Ideas platform.

Moscow once again tops municipal infrastructure digitalisation index

The Cities’ IQ ranking was developed by the Ministry of construction, housing and utilities of the Russian Federation in 2019 together with Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov in the framework of the departmental project "Smart City" (national projects "Housing and Urban Environment" and "Digital Economy").
