From 1 July, greeting cards issued on the occasion of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity will decorate Moscow streets. Over 700 billboards, posters and stickers with the symbol of the holiday, a chamomile, are to appear in different parts of the city.

In addition to flowers, the postcards will have images of Orthodox Saints Peter and Fevronia, happy marriage and family patrons. 'Family is a unity of thoughts and deeds', these words are to be a centrepiece of festive posters.

"About 300 postcards will be placed on billboards along the roads and outbound routes, on Prospekt Mira, Leningradskoye, Varshavskoye, Kashirskoye, Zvenigorodskoye and Rublevskoye motorways, and on Leninsky Prospekt. About 300 postcards are to decorate advertising stands in walking areas with almost 100 posters placed on billboards at public transport stops and press kiosks," reported the Moscow Department for Media and Advertising.

Videos with congratulations will be shown on the media facades of Book Houses in Novy Arbat Street (buildings 8 and 28) and the media facade of the Central Telegraph building in Tverskaya Street (7 Tverskaya Street).

The Day of Family, Love and Fidelity has been celebrated in Russia since 2008; it coincides with the Day of Orthodox Saints Peter and Fevronia. Davyd, Prince of Murom, (Peter in monasticism) and his wife Yefrosinya (Fevronia), who lived around the 13th century, are revered for their loyalty to each other. 8 July in Russia is considered an alternative to Valentine's Day.

Year after year, the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity has been gaining popularity with newlyweds. Over the past five years, more than 3,000 couples married on this day. This year, on 5 and 6 July, 1,300 couples will have their weddings. In addition to the traditional Mendelssohn's Wedding March, officials at the registry offices will wish the newlyweds to cherish each other and remain faithful like the Murom Saints Peter and Fevronia.
