Since the beginning of the reconstruction, 22 sports sites have been built and renovated on the territory of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex. This was told by Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Moscow Mayor for Urban Planning Policy and Construction .

"The Luzhniki Olympic Complex is the largest sports cluster in the capital. In recent years, a grandiose work has been carried out to update its infrastructure: 22 sport sites have been built and reconstructed, including the Large Sports Arena itself, which triumphantly hosted the matches of the World Cup. Other significant venues have also been erected on the territory of the sports complex. For example, the Palace of Water Sports, the Palace of Gymnastics, which, by the way, was awarded one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of urban planning and architecture MIPIM Awards", the Deputy Mayor said.

The large-scale renovation of the Luzhniki continues. Now two sport sites are under reconstruction: the Druzhba universal sports hall and the service center of open-air sports. Nine more sport sites are under construction - Crystal Ice Palace, tennis center, international sambo center and boxing center, five public catering pavilions and sports and wellness center.

Andrey Bochkarev is confident that after the reconstruction, the role of the Olympic complex as a site for the most prestigious international competitions will be strengthened, and Muscovites will receive a new high-quality infrastructure for active leisure and sports.

This year, the Luzhniki Olympic Complex celebrates its 65th anniversary. On July 31, 1956, the Central Lenin Stadium was opened on its territory. Luzhniki hosted the 1980 Olympic Games, the Champions League final, the World Championships in Athletics, and the FIFA World Cup.
