Moscow Innovation Agency, subordinate to Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development, signed a strategic partnership agreement in Seoul with the Innobiz, South Korean state association. The document provides for implementing joint projects and exchanging experience.

“Like our colleagues in the Republic of Korea, Moscow pays special attention to technological development and an ecosystem for innovators. Cooperation with the South Korean state association suggests exchanging experience and best practices, as well as implicating joint programs for small and medium-sized innovative companies,” said Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Moscow Mayor.

The developments of South Korean startups will be tested as part of a pilot innovation testing program in Moscow. And graduates of the Moscow Accelerator project will take part in programs in Seoul.

“In less than two years of its existence, the Moscow Accelerator program received over 4.5 thousand applications for participation from technology startups in various industries. And the city program of innovation pilot testings from May 2020 up to now enabled 1.5 thousand enterprises to test their developments and solutions. Receiving feedback, participants update their products and take them up to a new level, ” said Alexei Fursin, head of Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

The Innobiz Association has a unique certification and innovation assessment system for startups. Every tech startup in the Republic of Korea that expects to receive government support shall first apply to the association to have an assessment, and be certified. Only afterwards small and medium-sized enterprises do receive the requested assistance or service. The support can be provided as an opportunity of pilot testing in the urban environment, as well as in the form of subsidies and grants.

“The strategic partnership with Moscow, as one of the most technologically advanced capitals across the world, is important for us. Excellent conditions were created here for developing technology startups, and supporting measures and programs for multiple growth of businesses and production are provided, and the city itself is an example of a universal testing ground for piloting innovations. We would like to work together to focus on such broad challenges as shaping a technology-driven global ecosystem, creating jobs and developing innovative start-ups in our countries,” said Im Byun-Hoon, Chairman of Innobiz, .

The Moscow Accelerator project was launched in November 2019. It is implemented by Moscow Innovation Agency and Moscow Innovation Cluster with the support of Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development, and is assisted by the business community.

The Innobiz Association was founded in the Republic of Korea in 2002. It unites 19.5 thousand technology startups from all over the country and creates conditions for their sustainable growth.
