In the first quarter of this year, Moscow companies exported children's toys for 13 million dollars, which is 25.6 percent more than in the same period of 2020. This was informed by the Deputy Moscow Mayor for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov.

“In the first quarter of this year, the largest growth - 3.5 times - was demonstrated by the export of stuffed toy animals with the amount of supplies being 1.53 million dollars. The leaders of the export turnover in monetary terms included the Toy Sets product groups - with the amount of exports being 2.99 million dollars, an increase over the same period last year is 31.9 percent, as well as Plastic Toys and Construction Kits - 2.70 million dollars, an increase of 20.8 percent,” he said.

The toys are brought from Moscow to 46 countries of the world: USA, Great Britain, Armenia, Italy, Lithuania and others. This year Kazakhstan purchased the goods for 6.73 million dollars, Belarus for 3.79 million dollars and Belgium for 1.07 million dollars. In the first quarter of last year, Belgium almost did not purchase Moscow toys.

“Kazakhstan and Belarus are already familiar markets for Moscow exporters: capital companies have been exporting their products to these countries for many years. Belgium has become a new destination in the list of top countries - the reason consists in the rapid growth of Moscow exports of stuffed toys. Moscow has supplied such toys to Belgium for the first time, and now about 99 percent of the total volume of Moscow toys exports accounts for this category of good to this country,” Alexander Prokhorov, head of the Moscow Investment and Industrial Policy Department, said.

In 2020, Moscow ranked first in export turnover of plastic toys and children's construction kits. 71.5 percent of all-Russian exports was attributed to it. The experts from the Export Support and Development Center “Mosprom” found out that the Moscow share of exports of the toys on wheels (including tricycles, stand-up scooters, and pedal cars) was 62.7 percent. More than half of all-Russian exports accounted for non-plastic toys with a built-in motor (61.6 percent), unstuffed toys depicting animals and other creatures (57.2 percent) and toy musical instruments and devices (53.3 percent).

“Moscow is the leading region of the Russian Federation in the exports of children's toys: in some product groups, the share of Moscow exports in Russia exceeds 50 percent. For example, the export of toy weapons from Moscow amounted to 53 percent of the level of the Russian Federation, in the segment “Unstaffed Toy Animals” the share of exports of Moscow companies in Russian exports was 59 percent, in the commodity group “Plastic Toys and Construction Kits” - 83 percent”, - the head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of Moscow, Alexey Fursin, noted.

In order to get financial and non-financial support for foreign trade, one can contact the Moscow Export Center. Thus, a company that manufactures children's sports facilities received an account on a large online trading platform. It also signed a contract worth over 500 thousand dollars. Another company that makes baby cosmetics was able to conclude an export contract worth 100 thousand dollars after participating in the exhibition “Childhood, Children's Fashion - 2020” and a business mission with partners from Vietnam.

The “Mosprom” Center also supports the capital export. The experts are engaged in the analysis of target markets for the capital manufacturers; study the macroeconomic report, risk profile, the state of the industry and many other matters. They also do individual analytics for companies using which it is possible to understand the most efficient way to enter foreign markets.

Other products from Moscow are also procured by foreign partners. For example, chocolate products, baby food, and manufactured goods are in great demand. In total, in the first quarter of 2021, the capital products were sold to 151 countries for the amount of 19.29 billion dollars.
