Ice slides and ski trails: about four thousand winter recreation facilities will be opened this season

About four thousand winter recreation facilities, such as artificial and natural ice rinks, ski trails, ice slides and others, will be opened in Moscow this season.

"This season, specialists of the municipal economy complex will prepare about four thousand winter recreation facilities. These are artificial and natural ice rinks, ski trails, ice slides and snow towns, universal playgrounds for winter sports, skiing lodges, ski slopes, places for sledding, tubing, dog sledding, snowmobiles, snowboarding areas," said Pyotr Biryukov, Deputy Moscow Mayor in the Moscow Government for Housing and Communal Services and Landscaping.

The artificial ice rinks will be the first to start working in November, more than 150 of them are ready to be used. Such rinks were arranged in the park of the Northern River Station, in the mini-park on Khachaturian Street and in the mini-park along Olonetsky Drive for the first time.

Natural ice rinks, ski trails and ice slides will be opened once stable sub-zero temperatures set up in the capital.

New ski trails will be laid in Sokolniki and Khovanskaya Dubrava parks, snow and ice slides will appear in Tagansky Park and Dubki Park. A ski slope will be opened on Metallurgov Street in the east of Moscow, and places for tubing will be arranged in Dolskaya Street in the Southern Administrative District.

"This winter, 23 winter recreation facilities will operate on the territory of the Yauza Park that is currently under construction. A new artificial ice skating rink will start operating in the park adjacent to the Lazorevy Drive. It is planned to make four ski trails, three ice slides and 15 universal playgrounds for winter sports," Pyotr Biryukov added.

Muscovites and tourists will be visiting winter recreation facilities in six park areas adjacent to embankments of the Moskva River.

An outdoor skating rink and ski trails will be launched in the Yuzhny Cluster Park in Borisovskiye Prudy Street. Snow slides and towns and universal playgrounds for winter sports will be opened in Fili Park. Ski trails will appear in the park of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow, the Brateyevskaya Floodplain, the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve and the Moskvoretsky Nature and Historical Park.

The head of the municipal economy complex stressed that all winter recreation facilities will have the necessary infrastructure — lighting, rental centres and first aid points, changing rooms, toilets and catering outlets. Particular attention will be paid to compliance with epidemiological standards in accordance with the recommendations of Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor).
