Free to a Good Home: Moscow Residents Invited to Sheltered Animals Support Campaign

Moscow will host the Free to a Good Home campaign September 10-19. On Tverskoy Boulevard, Moscow residents will have a chance to get acquainted with dogs and cats living in shelters and looking for a home and loving owners. Deputy Moscow Mayor Natalya Sergunina says that this event will bring together those who have a pet and who are going to have one, as well as residents and volunteers who sympathize with homeless animals.

“The campaign was joined by such animal funds as  Ray, Lapa Druzhby, Sobaki, Kotoryye Lyubyat”,  Kotodetki , etc. Specialists and volunteers will hold zoopsychology, pet raising and care routine lectures for visitors,” said Natalya Sergunina.

The lecture hall will be open to everyone from 15:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and from 12:00 to 19:00 on weekends.

There is a special area for those who are yet to take a dog or cat where visitors can socialize or have a walk with animals from shelters. The special area is available any day from 11:00 to 19:00.

People may also campaign with their own pets. Dog handlers will be teaching the basics of dog training in a training zone. On weekdays, dog handler’s classes will be held from 15:00 to 19:00, on weekends — from 14:00 to 19:00. Pets can get an express styling or ear or claw care procedures in a grooming area. An obstacle course and other entertainments are also waiting for the four-legged.

Besides, a special car of Moscow Veterinary Committee will be available on the boulevard. This is a small wheeled veterinary clinic usually used for providing in-home veterinary services and emergency pet care. The campaigning veterinarians will advise on correct pet management and feeding, and provide clinical and ultrasound examination. Pet owners can also bring their four-legged friends to take a free rabies vaccine.

The campaign sites will be open daily from 11:00 to 19:00. Admission is free. Everyone will have a chance to buy useful accessories, pet care products, treats and toys for their own pets or animals from shelters.

One can also help homeless animals support funds through the charity service mos.ru. For this purpose, select the program you are interested in, from the funds section, and then indicate your donation amount and click Help. If the user has not logged in, the system will offer to do this to make the funds transfer. The service is also available in the city mobile application My Moscow

The money if transferred directly to the funds. Non-profit organizations’ spending reports are published in the Dushevnaya Moskva portal

The charity service was created on mos.ru in October 2020 by Department of Information Technologies together with Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy. The project partners are organizations engaged in provision of comprehensive targeted assistance to children and adults with severe diseases, disabled people, low-income and disadvantaged people.
