Moscow Transport Complex has been shortlisted for UITP Awards, a transport award granted by UITP (the Union Internationale des Transports Publics). The Moscow metro, Mosgortrans and MosTransProject will compete with their foreign counterparts.

The winners will be announced on 12 June, at the closing ceremony of the UITP world summit. This year, it will be held in Stockholm.

Moscow metro is represented in two categories. In the first one — 'Operational and Technological Skills' — experts will assess the unified control centre of the Moscow metro and the digitalisation of operational processes.

'Hello, Moscow! The story of the city on behalf of Moscow transport's project in ‘Marketing Campaign’ category  will also be assessed by the international jury. Among other contenders for the award are the most successful advertising campaigns aimed at increasing the number of trips in public transport.

MosTransProject is presented in 'Urban Public Transport Development Strategy' category ('Development of New Moscow Transport Framework with the Integration of Suburban Railway Transport in the Urban System' project), and Mosgortrans will compete in 'Smart Funds, Financing and Business Models' category. The largest Moscow’s land transport operator presented its 'New Approach in Moscow: Transition to Maintenance Contracts and Rolling Stock Repair (Life Cycle Contracts)' project. The winner in this category is supposed to be a transport company, which, according to experts, has managed to implement the most efficient financial and business model.

Projects from Germany, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the USA, Sweden, China, South Korea, Singapore, Chile and Turkey are also among contenders to win in these categories. There are 8 of them.

Moscow already received its UITP award in 2017 in Montreal (Canada) as the winner in 'Special Recognition' category, for achievements in the development of urban transport and transport infrastructure within six years.

Union Internationale des Transports Publics is a transport association that unites urban and regional companies — public passenger transport operators. Participants are also represented by manufacturers of rolling stock and components, government officials and research institutes from more than 90 countries.

The Union conducts research in the field of public transport, carries out educational activities, develops policy documents and declarations designed to manifest the unified position of the transport community.
