Moscow will be decorated with flags, posters and decorative designs for the City Day. It was told by Pyotr Biryukov, Moscow Deputy Mayor for Housing and Utilities and Landscaping.

“The flags and flag structures installed on the railings of the main Moscow bridges, along the main highways, in squares near railway stations and at the entrances to the city will become the central elements of the city decoration,” the deputy mayor said. “The key element of the decoration concept will be the word “Moscow” and the number “874” — the capital’s anniversary.”

Over two thousand flags will be placed on bridges, near metro stations, railway stations and transport hubs. They will decorate the Crimean, Novoarbatsky, Bolshoy Ustinsky, Borodinsky, Bolshoy Kamenny, Bolshoy Moskvoretsky and other bridges.

Flag structures will appear in the territory of Vnukovo airport, Vostochny railway station and near key transport hubs.

“In total, over 3.2 thousand decorative structures and a thousand congratulatory posters will be installed on city billboards, bus stops and poster stands. The posters depict the iconic places of Moscow — the Bolshoi Theater, the Triumphal Arch, the Moscow Planetarium and the main building of Moscow State” Pyotr Biryukov emphasized.

Special attention will be paid to the pedestrian zones on the Boulevard Ring — they will be decorated with flower arches and illuminated light boxes will be installed.

Pyotr Biryukov added that nothing additional was purchased to decorate Moscow for the City Day. All elements are reused (by redecorating and replacing celebration structures). Earlier, a sufficient supply of volumetric decorative structures was formed, which allows for decoration of the city.

In addition, architectural and artistic illumination of buildings will operate in the festive mode on September 11 and 12. Videos dedicated to Moscow will be screened on digital billboards, media facades of houses-books, facades of houses 8 and 28 at Novy Arbat street and the Central Telegraph building.
