Engineerium Children's Technopark will hold competitions in underwater robotics

April 9

The Engineerium Children's Technopark based on Bauman Moscow State Technical University will hold annual district competitions in underwater robotics, they will be held on April 17 and 18.  Every year, the tasks change but they are always dedicated to the problems of the World Ocean. This time, young people will develop a remotely-controlled underwater robot that can clean the water from surface to bottom of plastic debris and solve problems related to the coral reefs protection.

"Competitions in underwater robotics have been held in Moscow for several years, but for the first time they are organized by the children's technopark. Of all such sites, only the Engineerium in Narva Street is equipped with kits for this profile and an aquarium to prepare for control of such devices," said Alexey Fursin, Head of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

Participants will be divided into two age categories — junior (pupils of the first — fourth classes) and middle (pupils of the fifth — eighth classes) pupils. Each team should have no more than three members. To take part in the competition, the coach must fill out a special form. More detailed information is available on the website of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The competition final will be held at school No. 654 that has a large swimming pool for participants to test the robots. It will be held in two stages: first, the young people will complete the tasks, two attempts is permitted for each one. You can solve them in any order, the main thing is to cope with as many as possible. At the second stage, participants will demonstrate the robot's operation, tell about its advantages and answer questions.

The district competitions in underwater robotics have been held since 2015 as part of the project of the study clubs movement of the national technology initiative named Engineering Competitions in Marine Robotics.

Moscow will also host the regional stage of the Innopolis Open Olympiad. The winners in the category Intelligent Autonomous Uninhabited Underwater Vehicles will represent the Central Federal District in the final in Innopolis in June 2021.
