Electric car owners to be exempted from vehicle tax

Electric car owners are to be exempted from the vehicle tax. The privilege is to be introduced for five years, until 31 December 2024. It aims to promote environmentally friendly electric vehicles.

The new tax privileges are introduced under the draft law 'On Amendments to Certain Taxation Laws of Moscow'. The decision to submit it to the Moscow City Duma has been taken at a meeting of the Moscow Government Presidium.

Also, amusement parks are expected to receive a 97% benefit of the corporate property tax. It will encourage the establishment and operation of amusement parks in Moscow to develop entertainment industry and attract tourists.

Also, this draft law extends the cadastral value property tax exemptions for five years. It will apply to certified hotels, and property that are not actually used for commercial and office purposes. For example, they can be occupied by garages, laboratories, film and television studios, healthcare, utility, culture, educational, industrial and production, sports facilities. At the same time, the buildings must be located on land plots of the types allowing placement of commercial and office facilities.

Property tax exemptions paid from cadastral value were introduced in 2015. They turned to be in demand by the majority of taxpayers.

The draft law also fixes the cost of the license for foreigners to engage in professional activities for 2020, that is RUB 5,350 per month. In 2019, the cost of the patent is RUB 5,000 per month.
