The onset of autumn coincides with completing the landscaping works in the capital.

"This year, Moscow Municipal Economic Complex specialists carried out large-scale comprehensive landscaping of urban territories and public spaces. Over five thousand sites were improved. They include the embankments of Balchug Island, outbound highways — sections of Leninsky Prospekt, Andropov Prospekt, Zvenigorodskoye Highway; Krasnaya Presnya Street, territories close to new metro stations and those under construction on the Moscow Central Diameters and on the Big Circle Line.  New walking areas, cozy parks and public gardens for relaxation and exercising were created. Thanks to huge landscaping programs, Moscow today is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and convenient megapolises for life. The Russian capital is among five most attractive European cities for investors and it annually confirms its leadership in the ratings of Russian cities according to the urban environment quality index," said Pyotr Biryukov, Deputy Moscow Mayor in the Moscow Government.

This year, new public spaces appeared both in the center of Moscow and outside the city. It's time to take beautiful autumn photos, hear the fallen leaves rustling crisply and enjoy the last warm days. Places to go to first of all is the topic of this article.

The largest: Balchug Island

This year, more than five thousand sites were put in order. But perhaps the most important of them was the Balchug Island. Specialists improved the Sofiyskaya, Raushskaya, Sadovnicheskaya, Kosmodamianskaya embankments, Repinsky Garden and the adjacent Sadovnicheskaya Street, 1st and 2nd Raushsky, Faleevsky, Komissariatsky and Sadovnichesky lanes. As a result, another pedestrian route is available in the city .

Now, you can start your walk at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, proceed through the Patriarch's Bridge, look at the historical building of recently restored GES-2 (State Power Plant -2), where a unique cultural space will be opened soon. Then you can take a leisurely walk along Repinsky Garden and follow to the Sofia Embankment. Here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Zaryadye Park on the opposite bank of the river. It is best to photograph the floating bridge from the suspended balconies . Two balconies were arranged on the Raushskaya Embankment, another one — on the Sofia embankment.

This autumn, linden trees, red maples, elms and ornamental apple trees will be planted on Balchug. Trees will appear on Sadovnicheskaya Street, along three embankments and in Repinsky Garden. Besides, lanterns, benches and waste bins made in the late 1940s style were installed in the garden. They remind citizens that this public space was created in 1947, to honor Moscow’s 800th anniversary. Children's and sports grounds were also arranged, and very soon visitors will see swings here, with their appearance having something in common with the architecture of the Tretyakov Gallery new building.

Quarter of Poets and Krasnaya Presnya

Another walking route connected Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street and Petrovka Street. It passes along Dmitrovsky Lane. Here, the sidewalks were widened, benches and public waste bins installed, as well as old-styled lanterns.

A modern Quarter of Poets art space was created not far from the Dostoevskaya metro station, . It features the public garden at the intersection of Chernyshevsky and Dostoevsky lanes, Seleznevskaya and Novosushchevskaya streets. Guests can read quotes from writers, musicians and film directors painted on the wall made of corten steel (with a rusted appearance), as well as view and take pictures of the To the Unknown Poet art installation.

This year, more than 25 hectares of territory were landscaped in the Presnensky district — this is the area from Barricadnaya Street to the Third Ring Road. The works were held on Krasnaya Presnya Street and part of the Zvenigorodskoye highway. There are such landmark sites as the Moscow Zoo, the Mostorg department store building, the monument to heroes of the 1905 Revolution and the Mayakovskys family's memorial flat. Now you can comfortably walk along the street and look at the architecture, relax at the corner of Krasnaya Presnya Street and Trekhgorny Val Street and drop into the December Uprising Park.

It was created over a century ago, and this year it was comprehensively improved. Special areas were equipped for athletes and children in the park. For example, a table for playing with sand and water, and spring swings were installed for children under eight years old, for older ones there are suspended carousels, trampolines, rope course, and balancers to train keeping balance. On top of that, the park contains the guardhouse (the only one survived to our days) of the Presnenskaya outpost. Specialists carefully restored this historic building.

Light installation and benches in the form of turbines

Interesting places for recreation and walking appear not only in the center of the capital. For example, the Zvezdny Boulevard in the Ostankino district was transformed this year. Additional walking routes were created here, lanterns were renewed, trees and shrubs were planted, flower beds were laid out. A game complex in the form of a fortress was set up for children, and a wooden gazebo with a terrace — for adults.

Residents of the Altufyevsky District will also get beautiful autumn photos. After landscaping, the public garden by the Mars pond became a modern recreation area. Here young Muscovites will enjoy slides, ropes, swings and carousels, athletes will use fitness equipment and horizontal bars, and fans of bright photos will take pictures of a light installation shaped as Solar system. You can catch the last sun rays while sitting on one of the sun beds installed around the pond.

And figures of elephants, hippos and bear made of artificial plants were created in the picturesque Northern Oaks Park in Eastern Degunino District. Park sofas were also installed there, children's and sports grounds were equipped. And most importantly, a place for a skating rink with artificial ice was prepared in the park, to open this winter.

Figures made of artificial plants are now also available in a landscaped quarter within the boundaries of Sevastopolsky Prospekt, Ostrovityanova, Profsoyuznaya and Miklukho-Maklaya Streets. Here, the Konkovo District residents can go in for sports, take a walk with children, play table tennis and just relax.

You can take a photo against the background of a light-dynamic fountain shaped as a sailing boat, in the Zyuzino District. The fountain is located at the landscaped area of ChernomorskyBoulevard from Azovskaya Street to Simferopolsky Boulevard. It is better to go here in the evening — the fountain is decorated with multi-colored architectural lighting. Sidewalks, children's and sports grounds were also renewed, flower beds and lawns were laid out.

The public garden by the Ambulatorny Pond also changed. Its area was increased, and a small stage for district events replaced the chaotic parking lot. The garden also features a playground for a street game of panna-football, a swing-nest and unusual benches shaped as Yak aircraft engine turbines. The pond was decorated with three floating light fountains.

Sundial and island in full blossom

The Donskoy District residents obtained more places for walking and recreation. This year, two public gardens were landscaped here — Monastyrsky and Donskoy. Specialists renewed lanterns, benches and sidewalks, put the lawn in order, made architectural lighting. Besides, boards with information about the Donskoy Monastery history were added and dog training sites arranged.

It will be interesting to walk around the Park of Test Pilots in the Troparevo-Nikulino District. Previously, there was a training airfield and a school of junior aviation communication specialists here. To remind of those times, there is a sundial in the form of a military aircraft and a sculpture of swifts, which are called the kings of the sky.

A modern public space with a recreation area was created for the Novokosino District residents. A large play area for children of different ages appeared there, there are also playgrounds with outdoor fitness equipment and places for working out. Specialists equipped a skate park and a pump track, got the pond in order and arranged a walking area around it.

And the 12th Maryino Microdistrict residents can now walk around the renewed public garden between Belorechenskaya and Verkhniye Polya Streets. An original arrangement of wooden arches appeared at the entrance, and an island of perennial plants, shrubs and coniferous trees is blossoming in the center of the garden. Swings and garden sofas were installed in the recreation area, and a playground with rope course was made for children.

In the Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo District, the public garden near the Gzhel dance theater was put in order. Carousels and slides were made for children, and for those who want to go in for sports — a workout zone arranged and ping-pong tables installed. Fifty trees and more than 800 shrubs were also planted, flower beds were laid out and lawns were put in order.

Roller-ski track and football field

The Kryukovo District in Zelenograd got a 3 km long lighted ski-roller track. A start and finish zone, changing rooms, a toilet, a parking, as well as a small pump track for extreme cycling were arranged there.

In the 17th Microdistrict of Zelenograd, the bank of the Nizhnekamensky Pond was equipped: people enjoy romantic gazebos on the shore and barbeque spots. And in the Savelki District,  the rugby stadium was completely reconstructed to get seats, changing rooms with showers and a referee room — a real gift for rugby fans.

Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districtwas also involved a large-scale landscaping. Now the settlement of Voskresenskoye has a comfortable walking placealong the Tsyganka River embankment, and gazebos, garden sofas and swings to relax. Slides were made for children, artificial turf was laid on the football field, outdoor fitness equipment and ping-pong tables were installed, bike paths were made. Behind the building of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, you can relax by the river on decks or have a picnic in special sites.

In the city district of Shcherbinka, you can look into the Baryshi Park. Athletes will enjoy basketball and volleyball courts, a running track, a long jump area and a workout area. Rope courses, slides, swings and carousels were made for children. And of course, new lanterns and benches, beautiful lawns and flower beds were installed and arranged.
