43 three-section trams will appear in Moscow in 2022

December 20, 2021

In 2022, the tram fleet of the capital city will be enlarged by 43 three-section low-floor tramcars. This was told by Maxim Liksutov, the Deputy Moscow Mayor for Transport.

“In addition to the supply of trams, the manufacturer undertakes to guarantee the service support of the tramcars for 30 years - to perform their repairs and maintenance. Today, the new tramcars are operating on 87% of the routs,” he added.

It is planned that the new trams will take the routs Nos 6, 15, 30, 31 in the north and north-west of the city.

The tram currently holds the second place after the metro in terms of carrying capacity. It is a spacious, environmentally friendly and reliable mode of transport. The new generation tramcars have a low floor, a climate control system, USB ports and USB Type-C sockets for charging. The passenger compartment is also equipped with fasteners for bicycles, wheelchairs and baby strollers.

There are over 500 fully low-floor trams in Moscow. This is more than a half of the city's tram fleet. It is planned that only modern low-floor trams will operate in the capital by the end of 2023.
