25 Stations and Three E-depots: Metro Development in Coming Years

It is planned to design and build new stations on eight lines of the Moscow Metro by late 2024. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Urban Development Policy and Construction, has told the audience about this.

“It is planned to design and build 58.5 kilometres of Metro lines, 25 stations and three e-depots from 2022 till late 2024 at the city budget’s expense. The construction of new stations is scheduled on eight Metro lines, including both the existing and expected ones,” he said.

According to the Deputy Mayor, the main objective for this period is to complete the construction of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Metro. Thus, in November 2021, they plan to open 10 stations at once, the total length of the section will be about 20 kilometres. Passengers will be able to use such stations as Terekhovo, Kuntsevskaya, Davydkovo, Aminevskaya, Michurinsky Prospekt, Prospekt Vernadskogo, Novatorskaya, Vorontsovskaya, Zyuzino, Kahovskaya.

In total, the BCL will space 31 stations and three e-depots. It is expected to complete line construction in late 2022 or in early 2023.

“Besides, it is planned to complete the construction of sections belonging to the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line from Rasskazovka to Vnukovo and the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line from Seligerskaya to Fiztekh, the Novomoskovskaya station of the Sokolnicheskaya line and the Troitskaya line section between the ZIL and Kommunarka stations,” added Andrey Bochkarev.

They are also going to commence extension of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line to the Golyanovo district during this period. The station will appear in a residential area at the intersection of Ussuriyskaya and Sakhalinskaya streets. The length of the section from Shchelkovskaya to Golyanov will be 2.6 kilometres. The blue line extension will improve the transport service of 70 thousand Golyanov residents.

In addition, it is planned to build the promising Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya and Biryulevskaya Metro lines. Funds meant for this purpose have already been included in the 2022–2024 City Targeted Investment Programme.

Metro development is one of the priority areas in city’s work. The Moscow Metro network has grown by 1.5 times in the past 10 years, transport has become more accessible for many Moscow residents. Thus, they have built 195.4 kilometres of lines, 100 stations, three additional lobbies, 11 e-depots since 2011.
