About the festival
From 23 December to 08 January 2023, Muscovites and Moscow guests will be able to go on a big winter expedition
around the country directly from the Journey to Christmas festival venues! Festival visitors will learn how the
New Year holidays are celebrated even in the most remote regions of the country, taste traditional dishes, and
be able to purchase handicrafts and local products.
Participants will find gift workshops, cookery masterclasses, skating rinks and curling, Moscow Helps New Year gift collection offices, and very much more.

Unique designer Christmas trees will grow again on the square near the Central Department Store (TSUM). The
theme of designs for 2022-23 is Great Russia: Science. Culture. Sport. Kandinsky’s abstract art, Tchaikovsky’s
ballet, Pushkin’s fairy tales welcome guests in the author’s interpretation of designers and artists.

Guests of the festival will go on a big New Year’s journey and get to know the traditions of the Central,
Northwestern, Southern, North Caucasian, Volga, Ural, Southwestern, Siberian and Far Eastern regions of Russia.
Young participants will visit a Christmas animation studio and a gift factory, and learn how to cook festive
dishes from different regions of the country, visit workshops for Christmas tree decorations and sweet houses.
Outdoor sports facilities will also appear on the district venues. For example, hockey maze, shooting gallery, spring riders and others. And also merry-go-rounds.

Ded Moroz and Snegurochka will meet Muscovites and Moscow guests at the venues. Other folklore and magical
characters will also appear on Manezhnaya Square, Revolution Square and in the passages between them.

Guests will be able to taste the festive dishes of the national cuisines of the country, able to buy handicrafts and local products as New Year gifts for relatives and friends. It is noteworthy that the venue on Pushkinskaya Embankment will unite all regions of Russia: from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, from Arkhangelsk to Derbent. Here you can find Crimean teas and lavender, Kalmyk leather products, Yakut bone carving and much more. Restaurants will prepare a special menu, where they will present dishes of the peoples of Russia in addition to New Year`s dishes and drinks.
