About the Festival

Russia’s festive holiday for bidding winter adieu is over! Moscow held a Maslenitsa Festival for the fourth time this year from February 21 to March 1. Venues could be found in the capital’s downtown districts, as well as its neighborhoods and nine public parks. Visitors saw breathtaking performances, participated in fascinating master classes, and watched festive carnival parades organized by historical reenactors from all over Russia and Europe. And, of course, no festivalgoer could resist trying the traditional pancakes on offer with an imaginative variety of fillings.
