This winter, the history of the legendary merchant Sadko will be given new life on Russia’s main stage. A new version of Nickolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera based on an ancient Russian folk tale will premiere on February 14 at the historic Bolshoi Theatre. Dmitry Tcherniakov has come to direct the opera with Valery Borisov as chief chorus maser and Elena Zaitseva as a costume designer. The Bolshoi has prepared a lot of wonderful premieres for 2020, including the operas The Little Sweep and Don Giovanni, a ballet version of The Master and Margarita, and many others.
