Moscow Museum. Starting Point

Exhibition Moscow Museum. Starting Point covers the main events of the city’s and museum’s history from the museum’s foundation in 1896 to the early XXI century. Here will be presented archaeological artifacts, documents, photographs, paintings from different eras, works by contemporary artists A. Vinogradov and V. Dubosarsky, S. Faibisovich and K. Batynkov.

One of the important sections of Starting Point exposition is the ‘exhibition of the month’ where objects related to various events and dates will be exhibited. An important part of the exposition are previously unexposed museum’s plans, catalogs and reports compiled by its first Director, well-known Moscow scholar—Pyotr Vasilyevich Sytin (1885–1968).

Inclusion of Sytin’s documents and manuscripts, that illustrate his enormous collecting work, into the exhibit list gives the exhibition’s name one more and, obviously, the most important meaning: the project is the starting point for scientific and artistic research on the past, present and future of Moscow.
