Faust

Performance based on similarly-named Goethe’s tragedy won the hearts of Moscow spectators back in XIX century. The Bolshoy Theatre staged its first edition in 1866, only seven years after the premiere in Paris. Mikhail Bulgakov was one of the rapturous admirers of the work. Opera Faust is mentioned in his famous novel Master and Margarita. Theatre The Novaya Opera staged Faust in the year of 150th anniversary of the first Moscow performance and 125th birthday of Mikhail Bulgakov.
