'Vertical — Horizontal: Richard Paul Lohse — Vladimir Andreyenkov' at the Museum of Architecture

Shchusev State Museum of Architecture  presents the exhibition 'Vertical — Horizontal: Richard Paul Lohse — Vladimir Andreyenkov'.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the meeting of Richard Paul Lohse (1902-1988), the Swiss representative of concrete art, and the Soviet nonconformist Vladimir Andreyenkov (born in 1930). The artists met in Moscow on 13 August 1974, with a point of contact featuring a series of works 'Horizontals' and 'Verticals' created in the 1970s in Switzerland and the USSR. Despite the similarity of the painting style, the authors had different artistic approaches: Lohse was a representative of non-objective avant-garde painting justifying his methods in texts and calculations, with Vladimir Andreyenkov preferring intuition to guide him.

Visit the exhibition at the Museum of Architecture on 25 September till 4 November.
