The Red at Novaya Opera

Novaya Opera is staging the choral opera The Red, the final installment in a trilogy about people who are “different”. The concept behind the production revolves around two paintings – Pablo Picasso's Guernica which depicts the aerial bombardment of the Spanish town by the German Condor Legion, and Salvador Dali's Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening.

The opera features Spanish and Sephardic folk songs and excerpts from Tatyana Shatkovskaya-Eisenberg’s opera of the same name.

Director Alexei Veiro.
