Place in the Sun. Benkov / Fechin

The Museum of Russian Impressionism invites you to visit ‘Place in the Sun. Benkov / Fechin’ exhibition. It includes paintings from the State Tretyakov Gallery, Tatarstan State Museum of Fine Arts, the State Museum of Oriental Art, Russian Academy of Arts Museum, and from 10 private collections. After revolution and civil war, crises, diseases, and starvation, Fechin moved to the USA, while Benkov stayed in the USSR and moved to Uzbekistan. After more than 90 years, the works of two talented artists and friends, whose lives took different paths, are now exhibited together. The exhibition makes East and West meet: Samarkand spring acacias are next to California coast waves; East bazaars, minarets, and old Bukhara yards are accompanied by colorful still lives, genre paintings illustrating life in New York apartments, and portraits of American Indians.
