Fabulist Ivan Krylov and His Characters

The exposition features the life and environment of a famous dramatist, satirist, journalist, editor, and fabulist. It shows people and objects of the first half of the 19th century from the perspective of Ivan Krylov. The exhibition includes the portraits of Krylov’s nearest and dearest: his friends, patrons, and the addressees of his poems that also became the prototypes of his literary characters. The shown paintings were made by artists who managed to outstandingly reflect the atmosphere and style of Alexander’s and Nicholas’ epoch: Vladimir Borovikovsky, Orest Kiprensky, Karl Bryullov, and Pavel Fedotov.
