Exposition “We’re Going to an Exhibition: Guide Books for VSKhV”

April 4–16

On August 1, 1939, at the opening of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (VSKhV) in Moscow V.M. Molotov, the chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR, arbitrated the central idea of the exhibition: "A reflection of the great victory of collective-farm system that finally cleansed the Soviet land from kulaks and other bloodsuckers and cleared the way for the victorious rise of the socialist agriculture and our country as a whole." VSKhV should have not only become a showcase of the Soviet Union achievements in the field of socialist agriculture, but also unite all the regions of the country.
The exposition displays the introductory brochures and guides to the VSKhV pavilions, including pavilions dedicated to individual republics, krais and regions, as well as pavilions for certain areas of agriculture.
Those colorful materials provide a unique and especially interesting look at the emergence of the main USSR exhibition, which is currently known as the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNKh).
