Exhibition of Joseph Samsonadze's heritage at the Moscow State Museum of Oriental Art

On 4 July, the Moscow State Museum of Oriental Art will open the exhibition of Joseph Samsonadze's heritage. His family will present his works. After the exhibition is over, the paintings will be returned home, to Georgia.

The display will include about 70 works divided into themed groups. They will be exhibited in three halls called 'Credo of the Artist', 'Love without Borders' and 'Epic Threads'.

The exhibition's concept is a figurative philosophical interpretation of a huge era with its ups and downs, the artist's message to contemporary audience.

Joseph Samsonadze (1934-1993) is a graphic artist, painter and illustrator, a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR. He worked at the Georgia Film Studio for 35 years. More than 60 cartoons have been created with his participation. He was also engaged in book illustration being one of the recognized Georgian font masters.

The artist's paintings are kept at the Georgia Museum of Art, private collections in Russia, Georgia, Denmark, Germany and Israel. Most of the works are managed by the Joseph Samsonadze's family.
