Bus-and-walking tour 'Day in Moscow with Turgenev'

Join a bus-and-walking tour by Turgenev House Museum to view the new exhibition and see places visited by the writer.

Ivan Turgenev spent most of his life abroad, but was closely linked with Russia. In 1852, the first edition of his 'Notes of a Hunter', which made the writer famous, was published in Moscow.

Many of Ivan Turgenev's works such as 'First Love', 'The Day Before', 'Klara Milich' and 'Mumu' are set in Moscow. The mansion in Ostozhenka Street, once occupied by the writer's mother Varvara, is called by Moscow old-timers the 'Mumu House'. The characters of the story unfolding in this 'grey house with white columns', including favourite janitor's dog, were inspired by real people.
